It's always interesting making a decision after doing research on a subject you know nothing about. I had never heard of the Lasdrop before yesterday.
As strange as it may sound I can't get 'piece of shit seal' out of my mind when I think of 'PSS'. The Tides Marine dripless want's you to do maintenance. The Lasdrop is the only seal who's maintenance is '0'. In the maintenance section they say look at it once in a while as you would any boat part. There is no maintenance. They also use a different system then either of the others. The tech I talked to referred to it as in the two different methods of seals on engine water pumps. I also like the fact the Evans put one on Hawk during the last refit. He was looking for a good dripless that was the most reliable with the least maintenance. Price is also about the same as the PYI.
So, there you go,, Now I wonder how much this is going to cost by the time we're back in the water after the Hinckley yard does the work?
Thanks all for the input.
