It's a pricy piece of aluminum on the bottom, brings the cost up $40. I'm inclined to skip it unless there's a compelling reason, like insurance regulations. It will be mounted in the engine room, don't know if that makes a difference. I asked someone at one of the major distributors, all they said was 'it's always better to get the best' BS answer.
