Hey Dave,
Yeah, the Waccamaw is a beautiful ride, alright… Sounds like you and Pam definitely picked the right year to be heading south as late as you are, the past few winters would have been a whole different ballgame… (grin) I can’t believe how tame it’s been this season, relative to my last few trips south…
Saw this scene last evening while tooling around in my dink in Lauderdale… Several kids were returning from a training sail in the ocean in their Lasers… It was a VERY impressive display of sailing skill and the upwind efficiency of those boats, as they were fighting a pretty strong ebb current through the 17 Ave. bridge, in somewhat light and fluky air… It was a wonderful thing to watch…
Ultimate irony, is that the billionaire owner of SEVEN SEAS is far more likely to grow bored with that yacht, way before those eager kids do with their Lasers… That boat was launched to much fanfare a few years ago as ALFA NERO, has already changed hands once, and guaranteed will do so again within another year or two…
At 282 feet, she’s currently listed as #44 on the list of the 100 Largest Yachts in the World… Even so, she’s still a good 10 meters shorter than THE AVERAGE LENGTH of the Top 100…
Best regards,
Jon
