IF you can borrow a "hot shot" portable starter

You might see if it's a connection issue. BE VERY CAREFUL HOOKING UP THE CABLES, you don't want spot weld something in there ;^)))
I think Rich's observations make a lot of sense. It's possible you have a bad starter, but not as likely as bad connections or a weak battery.
