We haven't worn our sailing grounds out yet. We sailed into Southern Harbor on Northhaven, about 8 miles from our mooring, for the first time. Quite a unique body of water. Shaped like a soup bowl, it's shallow for Maine standards. It's also very remote feeling despite being so close to lots of boat traffic. We had it, as big as a lake, all to ourselves on a saturday night in August. It's been a busy summer, my son helped me frame up a small building. I had more fun than he did, and he's on his way back to school with renewed vigor. We haven't sailed too far from home yet often passing Indian Island lighthouse off Rockport. Soon the house will be empty and we'll take a few weeks off to sail away for a while. Hopefully we won't be dodging hurricanes again, this year.
