The only time I think about it is when I need to compound and wax the topsides. It takes me about 30 hours. With three ~39-foot hulls I have approximately 240 linear feet of topsides (and waterline to tape). 3M's stock price jumps every time I buy blue masking tape. 
I'm planning to paint the topsides over the winter and that will hopefully reduce the hull maintenance.
