Sounds like you are doing the right thing by picking up crew at West End. No rental car required. The "pirate" place Tom referred to is Jolly Roger which is closed. Plan on dinner at Pussers (sort of a chain but quite decent and fun). You'll want to pick up a mooring. The small area you can anchor in requires local knowledge and I'm not sharing!

Get out of dodge in the morning and head to Norman.
