I was worried about the type of grease for the wires and fitting.

Is it just any grease that can be used, or is it a special type? I have a small tube of dielectric silicon, is that the type?

I DO spray all terminal (on my terminal boards and posts with CRC corrosion blocker after after install. I like the CRC as it leaves an amber color so I can SEE that they have been coated.
