Since the SSB is installed with a teak nav station frame I installed a short lead that has a female receptacle mounted in the wood to the left of the radio. That way I just plug the phone plug for the headset into the teak frame. The 710 also has a button on the front to turn off the internal speaker so everyone doesn't have to listen to it. The headset I purchased is a Sony MDR-V-600. They are studio headsets and have been around for years as they are the 'inexpensive' favorites of audio musicians and engineers. Here's a link to them on Amazon.
Holy S--T! I bought mine from Amazon for $79.00 5 years ago. What happened? Now they're more than $200.00. Perhaps an MDR V6 would be better. $225.00 is crazy.
