I know your situation made that hard to do. But I wonder, Driftaway was set up(the two gensets) to spend long amounts of time away from a dock.
So say you took it down the east coast to the Keys, maybe the Abacos, places where anchorages were open and well protected and easy to get to. You spend 6 months leisurely traveling a total of 2000 nm(up and back) under power. And you spend all your time on the hook using the generator(s) lightly for cooking, refrigeration, lights, etc. So basically, you're off the grid but dependent on diesel the entire time. What do you think you'd spend(don't count breakage...)
How would that compare in costs to 6 months in a southern marina like where you are now, living aboard? I'm curious.
