A philosophical question for those of you so inclined

My wife and I just visited a boat for sale that is affordable but way more than we need. It has been set up for an Atlantic crossing in the middle of hurricane season being single handed by a man with one arm. If I knew of a one-armed man who wanted to cross the Atlantic through a couple of hurricanes, I would gladly let him have this boat. Should we feel guilty for taking such a boat away from its intended purpose and using it for mere coastal cruising with only the rare 200 mile passage? Would it be like my mother forcing me to eat all my dinner so starving kids in China couldn't have the leftovers? Maybe I got that message wrong. Any thoughts about this?
