If you have two batteries joined in one bank (in parallel), then run it directly to a different terminal.

() The load on the SSB isn't that great (compared to the windlass or engine starters, for example).
Though you probably know this, make sure the terminals are clean -- with AGM or Gel Cells, those are usually not an issue, but on lead cells, if you aren't careful with filling the water...
