the main thing i like about this app is the ability to have Active Captain available on the iphone without any internet service. i find the active captain invaluable in finding out local knowledge! i will never have to buy another waterway guide! active captain info is up to date and is constantly being changed by the user community! i have contributed tons of info on areas i am familiar with.

having this info always available while cruising is what i like about garmin mobile. and this info is available without having to download the $30 charts. yes, they do need active gps, but that will probably come. however, you and i know no one is going to navigate a proper crusing boat with an iphone! and as a back up (besides having 3 working plotters) i like Motion X gps. this program has noaa charts for a free download and an active gps function!
