It's designed for marine use by a company that has specialized in those radios for over a half-a century.
What I would avoid are radios by guys like those that are better know for CB and (now cheapened) construction field radios.
Yea, until something happens, I love ICOM. (But I respect Standard too.)
As I said, get a radio from someone that you really can rely upon that makes radios for MARINE applications, not just someone that also markets their radios for boats.

- Al, antenna? If you are replacing the radio,
