Our new 5/16" G4 anchor chain piles up under the windlass every time we bring it in. I've tried rearranging the half we rarely use off to the sides of the pile but to no avail. We still have open up the chain locker and knock down the pile a couple of times.
I just read a recommendation for making the chain slippery so it's not as likely to build pyramids. The process involves soaking the chain in vinegar for 24 hours, washing it, then soaking it in kerosene, WD40 or jet fuel for 24 hours and washing that off. Have any of heard of this? Is it worth doing?
