The crash and self-destruct nature of the design is worse than sad.

I realize that most of the action in watching AC races on live TV is liking watching a marathon runner train -- not very exciting. But not every sportng event is intended to be a start-to-finish TV event.

There are more interesting sailing events for multi-camera video coverage (usually involving more than just two boats). Even then, if the legs are very long, then it's often not something that lends itself to "full" coverage.

But even sailing around the world on high speed boats is not likely worthy of a ratings battle.

I think that it's too bad the Ellison didn't stick to his observations and "mission" to the sport.

I agree that one can have Cat's that are less likely to self destruct in "real" conditions in short races. But sailboats were intended to sail in waves and wind with more range than those ridiculous AC72's.
