These photos were taken at the top of Lake Michigan last Saturday morning. Water temp was 38*F; air temp was in the 40s. From what I could gather from the weather reports, we were at the northern fringe of the weather system that spawned the tornadoes in Oklahoma.
We had been motoring west from Mackinaw City for a little over three hours in the rain and were approaching the point we had to turn south into Grays Reef Passage. The rain stopped and the braided cloud formation (top photo) appeared in the northwest. The fog bank (lower photo) was to the south. For perspective, that's Grays Reef Light in the photo, which is 82 feet tall. About half-an-hour later, we were enveloped by dense fog and ended up running in it for over seven hours.
