Dead Calm before the Storm...
In Response To: Wednesday is PHOTO DAY! ()

Hey Dave,

beautiful spot, hope you'll be able to keep us posted...

I'm running this H-R 43 north from Trinidad, we just arrived in Ft Pierce to wait out the passage of the tropical system that's forming in the Gulf of Mexico, and is gonna pass over FL and on up the coast... Good trip so far, Chagauramas to Port Fierce in about 8 days... Great sailing up to around Long Island, when we ran into some very squally weather for a day, and the wind went away... TOTALLY...

Motored up the entire length of Exuma Sound and the NE and NW Providence Channels in conditions identical to this... Never saw so much as a ripple on the water for maybe 250 miles... It was totally surreal, especially at night... Crossing the Gulf Stream yesterday, the most true wind we ever saw was maybe 2-3 knots, it was as flat a crossing as I've ever seen...

Now, we're gonna get dumped on for a couple of days, in a European boat we can't plug into shore power, but we don't have AC on this boat, anyway... Might have to head to Walmart for a couple of big fans, and a long extension cord... (grin)

best regards,

Jon
