On the advice of a surveyor, I purchased a XINTEX propane detector (detector only, no automatic shutoff). The specs say it draws a maximum of 200mA. I was planning to wire it into the house lighting circuit, which is always on. It occurred to me, over long periods of time with the boat unused, the 200mA might actually add up and start draining batteries. Would I be better off wiring it into the propane solenoid circuit, which is only on when the propane is on? Needless to say, that would not detect leaks at times the stove is not on.
What do others do? Perhaps the reality is the max draw is less than 200mA and I needn't worry about the draw.
