Raritan series B converter?

Hey all, it appears that whatever connectivity issues I have been dealing with are all better, at least for now. No more timing out.

So, I have a question. The Island Packet has a device I have never heard of and have no documentation to explain it to me. There is a "Raritan series B converter" which I assume from what I can find on line is a battery charger of sorts? We have two group 27 gel batteries that act as both house and starting. The boat was equipped with gel batteries from the factory so I assume the Raritan was compatible with them. Does the "converter" part of the name refer to converting 110v shore power to 12 volts for charging purposes or does this uunit do other things??

Unfortunately, in the packet of paperwork we got there were manuals for several things including a toaster and rangefinding binocs that didn't come with the boat, but no original IP owners manual.

BTW, it is oofical, the Islander has been sold. We are down to one boat now.
