A good friend was getting his J35 ready across the harbor(at the town docks in this photo). George is a serious racer as well as a long distance cruiser. He and his wife sailed most of the way around the globe in a 30' racing type of boat when they were "kids".
He considered a more "cruisey" boat when he bought the J35. The idea, slow comfortable, just didn't fit him, even made him laugh(I remember). In the end, this J35 they bought, was a compromise he and his wife stuck. George wanted an accomodation-less racing Trimaran but she wouldn't go for it.
George also owns a lobsterboat that he masquerades as a working boat to take he and employees out to the islands for plumbing work. But I know what the lobsterboat is really for.
If it's been blowing a gale for a few days off shore, he heads out to the outer reefs and islands of Penobscot Bay, to go surfing. Dodger>???, phffffft....
