I bet. Today it would foolish to sail without a bimini in some areas.

I've heard the obstruction to view argument but the risk of skin cancer outweighs the obstruction risk.
I wish we had a better arrangement for sun protection than the awning we use but it's a decent compromise in Maine. If I sailed in the tropics, I'd fit even a small bimini to give some protection to the helm.
