5000nm and we still haven't turned the Garmin GPS on yet. We actually use the iPhone more, wearing one around our neck at all times, but we refer to the iPad when the navigation gets more interesting, usually with the helm watching the iPhone and the other person referring to the iPad to make sure the helm doesn't stray from the course.
Funny thing about using iThings. We weren't planning on going to Galveston from Key West, but the winds conspired against and put Galveston along the route to Corpus Christi so we decided to stop. Didn't have the detailed electronic charts for Galveston (we had paper), but as soon as we got in cell range, we were able to download the detailed charts for Navionics and iNavX. Worked a treat.
We have a LifeProof case for the iPhone and it is fine, but the AquaPac "bag" is working fine for the iPad. At this point I can't justify the cost of the true cases because the Aqua Pac is meeting the need just fine.
