It's very likely the color of the boat isn't the same as it was when it came out of the factory, even after compounding, because of UV and weathering.

A good way to match color is to apply some gelcoat (without hardener) to a clean area, and blend as needed to see how close you can get. Once satisfied, add the hardener.
