Actually some small boats have the small swim deck with ladder attached. A friend.....
In Response To: Permanent ladder as safety device ()
..has one on his 16' Great Pelican that he cruises(ed) several months a year. Deck is wide enough for one of those three step ladders that attaches on top with hinges. I'm leaving the starboard side of my transom open in hopes of putting one there myself. Lots of smaller powerboats have the same deck.
