All I can say is, you're really helpless. There was no place safe to be, depending upon what forecast you were dealing with. The track moved all through the Cape area. Tashmoo was dicey in that it was open to the North. The simple fact is, everybody for miles around just got lucky. Nobody is safe on a boat in 100 knot winds.
I was anchored and a seasoned local sailor found us a tested mooring because, he said,... "I don't want to be out here saving you tonight". I took no criticism and grabbed his offer.
The next fall, that man with the crew of a father and daughter sailed off to the Caribbean from MV. They lost the boat and the daughters father in a storm(forget the boat and storm). Pretty humbling to read that a year later.
I'll look into best storm options in the area more closely when we go, and watch way out on the weather.
