In that area I think Tashmoo might be the best option, or New Bedford, or up into Red Hook and Onset. All the other harbors are very exposed from one direction or another. Onset and NB have more transportation options if you want to get off the boat and leave it. There might be some other options to tuck in for smaller and shallow draft boats. Of course New Bedford has the hurricane barrier, but it's a big harbor and too much fetch in 100mph winds, and a lot of risk from being damaged by the commercial fleet (or debris from the commercial piers) if any of those massive items started to break free.
When Sandy blew through last year I got an appreciation for what it's like in 90mph+ winds, and the concern is not just the big things (we had 4 massive trees down on my small property alone)-- there were solid bits in the air that could kill or injure.
