The starter was not engaging the fly wheel. The solenoid was not pulling in. I am aware of the wiring/connector problem and that was not the problem. I had a Mexico repair shop install a new/old solenoid ( they took one out of a box in the shop that looked like it would work) and it worked for 5 starts after I installed it before failing. We were at the end of the season, so put the boat away and came home to Denver. End up finding a replacement starter on E-Bay that look way different and was gear driven that was like $120. I also found a solenoid on E-Bay for about $30 and went back down to the boat the next season hoping I had a fix. Installed the new motor other then the big red wire was about 2 inches lower ( of course my wire came from the top and I had to undo some cable ties.) but it was a good fit and it worked like a charm. Also took the old starter and solenoid down to a shop and had them replace the solenoid. l had them run it for about 50 times and it worked fine, so now have a back up. You mite ask why I did not change the new solenoid myself. It only cost $5 and there is a great taco shop next to them so another $2 and a another job well done.
