Are you in marinas? Do you have a portable data device that you use for emails (Blackberry type device or iPhone or...)?
The use of an external antenna might help and it might not. It depends on how much you use it, if you have other broader needs that simple email, etc. -- and how much and often being connected to the WWW is worth to you.
