Hey Chris,
...and scoring unprotected signals along the way... If you don't require internet on a daily basis, that would probably work for you, and you might be surprised at some of the spots you can score a connection, these days... Then, there are places like Miami Beach, which offer free communal wifi anywhere within city limits... I've had good luck in the Bahamas, as well, it's surprising how widespread wifi has become over there...
I do use an external antenna to boost the signal, they're pretty effective...
BTW, regarding the Turks & Caicos, do you know about the cruising fee they've implemented in the last year or so? Not certain of the exact number now, but it's pretty steep, and considering the somewhat limited cruising opportunities the T&Cs afford compared to the Bahamas, I'd rate heading down there as being no longer worth the effort, stick to the Bahamas...
Brace yourself for the amount of charter megayachts you'll now see infesting the Exumas, or places like Harbour Island... That's probably gonna be the biggest change you'll see down there, since your last visit on MIDNIGHT MAIL...
best regards,
Jon
