Positioning higher on the mast and farther back on the boom or adding another cord farther aft would help to catch more sail. Is your Freedom an unstayed wishbone rig?

I went through two or three iterations over the years before being satisfied. The mast mounted blocks are pretty high up. To prevent the jacks from slapping on the mast I had hooks welded to the aft edge of the lower spreaders during my last refit. I hate lines slapping on the mast. Ronstan makes some very small all plastic (except for the axle pins) blocks that are good for the sliding connections.
