We purchased Doyle sails while in the Eastern Caribbean. With the Doyle sails we purchased a Stackpack. It was fine and lasted for 7 years. What we didn't like was that the fiberglass stiffening poles beat up the Stackpack in the wind. Our boom is really high and we also had trouble zipping the thing closed.
After it beat itself up and needed to be replaced we purchased a Mackpack. Really like the line that pulls the zipper closed but without the stiffening poles the Mackpack looked very untidy when closed. We also had a problem dropping the main into the Mackpack and had to do it slowly like you do. A way around it might be to put the lazy jacks about a foot out on the lower spreaders instead of on the mast as Mack Sails suggests as there needs to be a wider slot for the sail to drop into.
After having both I think a standard main sail cover with lazy jacks would be a better choice than either. All that Sunbrella hanging up there just looked sloppy.
Steve on Brendon has a good system his boat. We had a Garhauer rigid vang. A great piece of equipment. Check out the Lazy Cradle he mentioned earlier. It's a clean instillation that seems to work very well.
