I'm always amazed at what goes behind the scenes and inside of things. I remember reaching into a Dorade on a million dolllar Morris at the Miami boat show. I wanted to see how the "pros" built them and I came out with a bloody hand. There was a raw piece of cured fiberglass just hanging ragged in the Dorade. And this was in a million dollar boat!
Here is the inside of a Fountaine -Pajot's keel. Thought to be a really, really, good boat. At least that's what I've heard! Maybe yes, maybe no, but IMHO if they wanted to fill it with foam they did a lousy job and if they wanted to leave it void they did a lousy job. The owner said that Fountaine - Pajot indicated that the keels are sacrifical.
The boat went up on a reef in Guna Yala during one of the wind refersals. Towed off by an island trader and sailed here for repair.
