Broad Reaching in Wind and Wave
In Response To: Heading South - Part 2 ()

Hi Chris:

Done quite a it of it and quite often singlehanded. After doing so with main alone, I now opt for flying just my roller furling jib. With only the main, taking another reef on a broad reach was a challenge plus I rolled a lot. With just the jib I could easily reef to suit the wind conditions, and I found my vessel to be less squirrely. Give it a try. I think you'll find it both a more comfortable and more flexible approach.
