The spinnaker pole holding out our genoa is my best downwind set up.

It is simple to reef-roll out, never leaving the cockpit and I can take the pole down after it's fully reefed, and it's safe to do so. It's also easy for our Wheel pilot to steer the boat dead down wind. Usually when I use it, I don't need more than 100% of our 135%, so the sail can be trimmed well for downwind perpendicular to the seas.
