And he's probably right about a lack of participation. I'm afraid our lobstermen are in a spot they'll never get out of unless they band together. Fishing has been such a scourge of the oceans. But for many reasons(not the least of which, fish predators eliminated), the lobster population thrives.
The more the lobstermen, catch, the more they seem to set traps. More traps means more bait, more feeding stations on the bottom. The thing that hasn't caught up is demand. And I doubt it ever will. So they continue to oversupply their fragile, small market. Only market growth is industrial processing(a money loser for them).
So they oversupply their market, and the price goes down. They shift to industrial, and need more catch to make the same daily income, with more traps, longer hours, and on and on and on.
The great irony in this to me is, the fish beat the fishermen this time.
