On her good side, Bean created her own demand for high quality lobster,

and then was able to pay more to her lobstermen. I applaud her for that. She created her own upscale stands and then high quality packing for a nice package for many retailers.

I personally think her problems are she's very political and has tried to incorporate that in her business model. That works with the extremists on your edge, but the middle isn't as impressed, and they are your customer too. For instance, I think locals here put one of her places out of business. They've done that before in this area, with a biz. they didn't like.

Too bad, I think she has a helpful idea for some of the industry.

All they need to do is fish less, catch less, let demand catch up, and raise prices. Sounds easy enough, eh?

Another huge irony is that some science has shown that they may catch as many lobsters as they do now, using half the traps, working half as hard. If there is any truth in that, they need to get together. Sheeesh.
