and the price and workmanship are to your liking, then go for it. As you wrote, you don't need anything exotic nor are you trying to win races. If the latter I'd go with one of the big makers who have the latest technology, but otherwise for a set of cruising sails your local guy should be able to do a serviceable job with the available common materials. Just my humble opinion.

Relationships and service count. Especially if you rip something and it's mid-season and you want a quick turn-around on repair.
