Me thinks rudders on most of the current generation of boats are woefully inadequate. Looking through boat yards they are smallish compared to the boats. About 5 years ago there was a CC piece on what is needed on offshore boats and rudders of adequate size was of prime importance. I'll see if I can find the link again.
