That is interesting. I don't think there's been an increase in mega-charter yachts in the Northeast.

We have the charter boat floatillas, so it makes me wonder, where they go? I guess they spread out which gives a sense of how much sailing grounds vary. But you can predict the harbors on the coast where they will stop and avoid those if you want. Maine is 'remote' to most of the fleet, so we may see far fewer mega yachts than say Cape Cod.

Parts of the Exumas seemed very remote to us years ago(sounds like it's changed). But in the broad scheme, the Bahamas are close to Southern Fla. a charter yacht mecca. And those same Bahamas have limited anchorage areas for big boats, so like everything else afloat, 90% of them will be clustered in 10% of the anchorages(same in the Northeast).

20 years ago, Georgetown to Cat Island was like going back a century, that sounds like it's still the case.

I'm lucky I find seclusion where I sail, but seclusion is subjective. Some need to go thousands of miles, some can find it near home.
