The Catholic News Service (CNS) wouldn't tolerate a discussion of abortion either! Plus CNS and would probably suggest that such a to-be former editor move-in to Salman Rushdie's back room until he or she ends up in Hell. ;^))).
If balanced reporting and discussion is an issue, you need to pick your forum as a participant or part of the audience.
Guns and Ammo isn't the New York Times -- which might not tolerate a real position on some issues which differs from its editorial board's (or owners') views very much.
If you were looking through a coal mining engineering magazine (if any exist), you wouldn't find someone advocating against coal mining and the use of natural gas as a source of electrical energy generation?
If your looking through Guns and Ammo, i think the average reader or barber shop patron is looking for technical information; new, and more devasting, weapons or components that make weapons easier to use; or shoping for sources of weapons, powder, reloading equipment, holters, cases, scopes, etc.
Remember: Almost no one looks through, or used to read, Playboy magazines for its editorials or interviews anyway ;^))).
