I was working on the concept and just purchased the stronger looking double extension sliders. Since the Engle weighed a good bit I used 2 per side. In order to keep it closed I put a lever snap latch on one side and then a barrel latch for safety on it as well. Only latched the barrel when going underway. Had no problem with the material they were made from. After 5 years they looked fine. Wish I had finished the wood frame around it but never did.

The Engle switches automatically when it senses 120 which is really nice. When I unplug from shore power it switches to 12. I plug shore power in and it's back on 120.
