Clerification to my Q

the Q is if you look at the internal of the devices that are not working following a lightning strike, when looking at the boards and the components on the boards. (namely the IC's, Capacitors, Resistors, Transistors, Etc...) is there a major VISUAL indication following a major strike that took out most of the on board instruments and major appliances (including the refrigerator (DC type) and Air condition (AC type) that were on board.)

What I want to understand is if someone had a lightning strike (while they were on board or close by so they KNOW it is a lightning strike) and they can tell me what they saw INSIDE the electronic equipment after they opened it up and inspected the PCB's visually.

The real issue is if the strike takes out the instrument due to the energy flow (high current) through the electronic PCB while leaving the chard burnt path as a mark... Or if the energy does not PASS through the CB and just the magnetic field generated by the huge electrical current that is created by the strike wil caue a failure to the PCB by knocking out some electronic components however without leaving the visible marks on the PCB.

In the past I remember some discussion about this subject and someone had such an experience and described the results... I hope I am right and they will add this information to this post.
