Registered for Pacific Cup 2014. Now we need an emergency steering solution. At the moment I'm leaning towards a custom cassette rudder system like Dave describes above. It has to be a pretty big blade to steer our 40 footer. We have room to store it, but what an expense for something we hope to never use. Makes liferafts look like a good value.

Any suggestions for how I can get ahold of that Cruising World article. I'd sure like to see that. We have a drogue, but I'm leary of it being effective.
