Cruising Sailors Forum Archive

I've been skipping that area. If I want to sail more, I have to slow down, and stop trying to go somewhere.

It sounds stupid but that's beginning to make sense to me. We're already laying out plans for some coastal sailing next season. It will be a go east year. So rather than get stuck in a rut in our local cruising area, I'm trying to think out of our box. Favorites routes and stops are comfortable habits.

The area between Boston and Portland is an area least chronicled by cruising guides and online info. Yet I found much I thought I'd like to go back and explore, on Cape Ann alone. Then there's a few crags along the saucer shaped coast to Portland I'd like to see. In fact I'd like to sail between them and that takes time and patience.

It's getting so my sailing is as important as the destination. That's challenging to meet as you have others to take along and limited time,...and a motor.
