I have made this trip numerous times over the years. Be careful anchoring in the Bohemia, it gets very shallow very quickly. If you time the north-going current right in the northern part of the Chesapeake Bay and the east going flood in the Canal, you may be able to make it to the Reedy Creek anchorage in one long day from Annapolis, if you leave early. The current in the C&D Canal runs very strong. It is very frustrating having to fight the current all the way; it can run 2 knots or more and there is little slack time. Going down the Delaware Bay you want to leave early, preferably about an hour or so before the ebb starts at Reedy Point. In any way, you will loose the ebb at some point in the Bay, but will get it back later, when you get closer to Cape May. Depending on your mast height, you may be able to go through the Cape May Canal (Two bridges at 55ft.). I have to go outside, usually through the unmarked Cape May Channel, with daylight and favorable weather. I have never anchored in the Harbor of Refuge.
