Speculation ? Hardly that ...
In Response To: In the Bahamas - Part 18 ()

… Bell Island, like Bock Cay with it's golf courses, Overyonder Cay with it's windmills and ridiculous improvements, and the grand-daddy of 'em all … Baker's Bay … have, in my opinion, been ruined by wealthy American interests. I'm fortunate to have seen and visited these places before they deteriorated. Yes, the Aga Khan paid pennies (to him, I understand it was quite a bit more than mil) to the Bahamian Gov't and the National Trust to do exactly what the Trust was set up to protect and prevent ?!? Isn't it amazing what a "contribution" or "donation" will get you ? What makes it all a bit more intriguing is Judy & Tom, who used to be the long-time managers at the Park Headquarters at Warderick Wells, are now the new stewards and care-takers at Bell Island … did you know that ?!? … and make sure the right palms got greased and things could get done back at Headquarters in Nassau. Things that Judy & Tom were at one point upset about happening next door on Halls Pond Cay, which are exactly the same things happening at Bell Island, but they're not too upset about that ! Very sad. Cheers, John
