A friend has an Islander 32 and wants to change from wire to rope. After going up yesterday he sent me this photo. I tried to get as much def. making it look washed out but the sheave seems a bit different than I'm familiar with.

From what I can see it looks like changing to rope might not work as well as replacing it with another wire to rope halyard. I just don't like the look of it. His discription below.

"Does this look like what you were talking about? The sheave is 1/2" across. The groove the wire fits in is 1/4". Looks like rope would ride ok above the wire groove because it has the angled sides."

Any thoughts?
