In a conversion on another BB two knowledgeable friends and differing views, although in fairness I think one was limiting his advise to the Ronca and the other a more generalized response.
Also, there is much talk of the so-called 'rock-slot' on the Manson and folks afraid to use it unless the boat is well attended under the apprehension that a 180 shift in the wind will cause the shackle to slide forward pulling out the anchor. Manson says in its literature that in such a circumstance the anchor will reset itself immediately and that such a fear is unfounded. Lets face it, in a 180 wind shift my old CQR would pull out , as well, and there was no telling if it would reset at all without assistance in the form of letting out more rode.
So i think I'm going to rig my new Manson with the rock slot and with bow to anchor for a few times at the beginning of the season to see how it works out, prior to the cruise to Maine in late July. What do you think?
