Have an accumulator in house right now that leaks, needs replacing....

The air bladder is inflated to a pressure necessary to obviate the high water pressure of, say, our city water. Without the accumulator, as now happens, water hammer on shut off.
I'm not sure why you'd need an accumulator on a boat unless it's for water being put into the system? I'd like to hear about that. Or is it for creating pressure like a tank on a well?
